Barstander Training for DJs Seeks a Safer Nightlife Scene in Ithaca

Local DJ Ben Ortiz (DJ ha-MEEN) of Ithaca DJ Festival and the Tompkins County Advocacy Center have joined forces to create a safer, more inclusive nightlife scene. Their mission starts and ends with activating local leaders, citizens, and talents to act as bystanders, working to fight sexual assault and harassment across the local nightlife scene.

WRFI News Director Katelyn Harrop sat down with Ortiz and Naomi Barry of the Advocacy Center to learn more about new effort to decrease sexual assault and harassment at bars, shows, and other venues, one activated performer at a time.
