Watkins Glen International sees Joe Logano capture NASCAR’s XFINITY series [Audio]

Dateline: August 4, 2018. NASCAR roared into Watkins Glen International on August 4th-5th. WRFI’s Fred Balfour reports from the pits of the XFINITY series 20th race of the 2018 race schedule. Strategy & pit crew skills were critical as the race started and ended in bright hot sunshine but a heavy rainstorm swept down off Seneca Lake forcing pit stops to change to rain tires and then a return for “dry” tires.

Won by veteran NASCAR driver Joey Logano, the finish was in question right up to the last lap when teammate Brad Keselowski spun out and A.J. Allmendinger captured 2nd place, 3 seconds back. The 82 lap race saw seven cautions and 13 lead changes among the seven race leaders. (Photo: Fred Balfour).
