At the WRFI Healthcare Desk, we note that one of several widely disputed issues is the true cost of healthcare delivery, both to the individual, and to the country as a whole. In this series, we report on actual healthcare situations that allow the listener to compare costs incurred in the U.S. with the costs for a similar event in another country. In today’s feature, retired history professor Judy Wishnia recounts an emergency room visit for an accident in Paris followed by an ER visit for a similar accident in her Long Island home near Stony Brook University.
