Coronavirus Update, May 13, 2021
Schuyler County Public Health is holding a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on May 19th.
The clinic will be held at the Odessa Fire Department from 3 to 5 pm. All adults 18 and older are eligible and welcome.
The Johnson & Johnson Vaccine will be administered. Pre-registration is encouraged, but not required. Register by clicking here.
Memorial day weekend will see loosened COVID restrictions.
Governor Cuomo announced that State-run pools and beaches can open for Memorial Day weekend with social distancing rules in place.
Cuomo said he hopes to see state-swimming sites reach full capacity by the 4th of July.
As of right now, about half of New York’s population is fully vaccinated, and 60% of adults have received at least one shot.
For the second year in a row, the Annual Montour Falls and Fire Department Festival and Parade of Bands has been cancelled. Organizers cite ongoing safety concerns due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Observer-Review reports that the festival and parade is the Montour Falls fire department’s largest fundraising event of the year. Organizers say they look forward to having the event in 2022, and thank their volunteers and the community for their support during these challenging times.
Tompkins County is reporting 4 new positive cases of COVID-19, and a total of 44 active cases.
Schuyler County is reporting 1 new case of the coronavirus, and 4 active cases.
