2021 Izzy Award Winner: Liliana Segura

The Izzy Awards are given out by the Ithaca’s Park School for Independent Media to journalists, outlets, or any producer who makes, in their view, an outstanding achievement in independent media. 

At this year's 13th annual Izzy Award, senior Intercept reporter, Liliana Segura, was honored for her in-depth reporting that revealed how the Trump administration carried out numerous executions amid the pandemic. 

Her reporting also exposed the unfairness of capital punishment, its impact on people of color, and the arbitrariness of who it puts to death.
