Coronavirus Update, June 8, 2021
On Monday, Governor Cuomo announced that New York would end it's COVID-19 restrictions once the adult vaccination rate reached 70 percent. It's currently at 68.6 percent in New York.
These changes would lift COVID-19 capacity restrictions in most commercial settings in New York state, i,.e. disinfecting requirements, health screening to inform contact tracing, social distancing.
The types of settings that will still be required to adhere to COVID restrictions are large scale venues, public transit, schools, homeless shelter, correctional facilities, nursing homes, health care environments, and Pre-K to 12 schools.
Unvaccinated individuals will still be responsible for social distancing and wearing a mask in accordance with CDC guidance.
Tompkins County is reporting no new positive cases of covid-19, and 21 total active cases.
Schuyler County is reporting 2 new cases of COVID-19, and 11 active cases.
