The Ithaca Festival will be returning to the Ithaca Commons this June according to the Ithaca Voice. The festival has been on a two year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival is scheduled for June 2nd through the 5th. COVID cases have seen a sharp decline in Tompkins County following the winter surge.

Schuyler County public health is hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic this Friday at the Watkins Glen Community Center. The clinic will be open from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and will be available to all residents 5 and older. Walk-ins will be accepted till 4:30. Governor Kathy Hochul has announced that New York state will lift its school mask mandate effective March 2nd. According to Spectrum news, the new rules will go into effect for students two years and older. New York’s covid numbers have been on the decline over the last few weeks. Governor Hochul lifted the mask-or-vaccine mandate for indoor businesses earlier this month.

The New York State Conservative Party has designated Lee Zeldin as its candidate for governor in 2022. According to Spectrum News, the endorsement comes on the eve of the New York State Republican party convention. The Conservative Party has typically cross-endorsed Republican candidates utilizing New York’s fusion voting system. The party also endorsed Alison Esposito for Lieutenant Governor, Michael Henry for Attorney General and Paul Rodriguez for State Comptroller.
