SUNY Ends COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate For Students
SUNY students are no longer required to get the COVID-19 vaccine to attend classes. SUNY Chancellor John King announced the end to the mandate on Tuesday. SUNY will continue to encourage students, staff, and faculty to get the COVID-19 vaccine and boosters. The announcement was made the day after President Biden signed a congressional resolution ending the national emergency response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Racist and Anti-Semitic Graffiti Found in SUNY Cortland Building
Graffiti of the “n-word” and a swastika were found in a SUNY Cortland building recently. According to the Cortland Voice University president Erik Bitterbaum condemned the hate symbols. He notified students by email on Tuesday that University Police are investigating the incidents. Anyone with information about the graffiti is encouraged to contact the University Police at 607-753-2111.
Former Pro Hockey Player And Cornell Alumnus Dies At 38
A 38 year-old former NHL player and Cornell alum has died. Ray Sawada died on Monday of an apparent heart attack in his hometown of Richmond, British Columbia. According to a CBC report he was sitting on the bench during a hockey game when he collapsed. Sawada played hockey at Cornell then went on to play 8 seasons with the NHL Dallas Stars. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
