- Ithaca Seeks To Fill Third Ward Vacancy On Common Council -
The City of Ithaca is looking for someone to fill a vacancy on Common Council. Third Ward Alderperson Jeffery Barken announced he will resign from his seat in June. The city’s accepting applications from Third Ward residents who are interested in serving out the rest of his term. It expires at the end of this year. For details about how to apply click here. - Attorney General Warns Medicaid Recipients Of Phone Scam -
New York State Attorney General Letitia James is warning people with government health insurance plans about a new phone scam. Calls are targeting people on Medicaid, Child Health Plus or the Essential Plan. Scammers are asking people to pay hundreds of dollars to renew their health insurance. There is no charge to renew any of these plans. You can report possible scam calls to the Attorney General’s office
- State DEC Issues Wildfire Warning For Most Of The State -
Most of New York State is facing a high risk of wildfires. That’s according to an alert from the state Department of Environmental Conservation, or DEC. The National Weather Service in Binghamton has also issued a fire warning for the next two days. People should use extra caution because if dry grass or trees litter catch fire it could spread quickly.
