- Town of Caroline Board Member Resigns -
A member of the Caroline Town Board has resigned. Katherine Goldberg announced her departure earlier this month. She held a two-year seat that began in January. The town is looking for someone to temporarily fill her position until the end of the year. Goldberg’s resignation came too late for people to run in the primary election. Instead, it will be voted on in the November general election. Whoever wins then will fill out her term until the end of December 2025. Goldberg cited the ongoing dispute about zoning as the reason for her stepping down. Her resignation letter was recently published by Tompkins Weekly. - State Attorney General Issues Warning About Electric Bike Batteries -
New York State Attorney General Letitia James has issued a new alert about e-bike batteries. It comes after a fire killed 4 people in a New York City repair shop. The warning contains guidelines about buying, storing, charging, and disposing of e-bikes’ lithium-ion batteries. . The AG’s office says so far this year there have been 108 fires and 22 deaths caused by e-bikes and other devices with lithium-ion batteries.
