- Resolution To Oppose Landfill Expansion Fails In Tompkins County -
A resolution opposing the expansion of the Seneca Meadows landfill failed to get support from the Tompkins County Legislature The landfill is located in Waterloo in Seneca County. Some of the legislators who oppose the resolution say landfills will continue to be necessary until people reduce the amount of trash they produce.
- Molinaro Bill To Prevent NY Schools From Housing Migrants Passes House -
A bill to prevent any school from housing migrants passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday. Representative Marc Molinaro introduced the bill. the bill would take federal funding from any SUNY school that housed people who did not enter the country legally. Molinaro took action after Governor Hochul proposed asylum seekers from New York City could stay in uninhabited SUNY dorms during the summer. According to federal law, asylum seekers are allowed to be in the country while their application is being considered. The Albany Times Union reports the bill has little chance of passing the Senate.

- Tompkins Mental Health Association Launches New LGBTQ+ Support Group -
There’s a new support group in Tompkins County for LGBTQ+ adults living with mental health issues. Cai Kelly with the Mental Health Association of Tompkins County is one of the group’s facilitators.
She says the group is necessary. "People often have concerns about how the world perceives them and how they interact with the world and things like that and their own identity and finding that."
The support group meets every Thursday from 3-4 pm at the Mental Health Association offices in Center Ithaca.
