- Molinaro Campaign Returns $2,000 After FEC Complaint Filed -
Representative Marc Molinaro has returned $2,000 to a previous campaign account. The Albany Times Union reports the action was taken after a complaint was filed with the Federal Election Commission by a group called End Citizens United. The complaint alleges Molinaro illegally transferred money from his Dutchess County executive campaign fund to his federal campaign committee. Molinaro was the county executive for 12 years before getting elected to Congress. The House Republican represents the 19th Congressional district that includes Ithaca, Binghamton, and part of Catskills.
Also this week, Molinaro joined other House Republicans to support a resolution censoring Representative George Santos. WSKG reports the Long Island Congressman was indicted on fraud and money laundering charges earlier this year.
- Ithaca Walmart Affected By Interstate Card Skimming Scheme -
The Ithaca Walmart was affected by an interstate card skimming scheme earlier this month. That’s when devices are illegally installed on ATMs or payment terminals to steal people’s credit or debit card information. Ithaca police are investigating three suspects related to the crime. The Ithaca Voice reports the scam affected 15 other Walmarts in Central New York, the Southern Tier, and Maine.
