Ithaca Schools Cancel Outdoor After-School Activities Because of Heat
After-school outdoor activities in the Ithaca City School District were canceled on September 6 because of the extreme heat. Wednesday marks the third day in a row that the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the region. Temperatures reached the mid-90s in parts of Tompkins and Schuyler counties.
Cannabis Industry In Turmoil After Another Court Ruling Freezes Retail Licensing
The licensing of 30 retail cannabis store applicants is frozen again. A state Supreme judge reversed his decision to exempt them from a recent injunction. The Albany Times Union reports that Judge Kevin Bryant says he made the reversal because the state Office of Cannabis Management wasn't honest about how far along some of the applicants were in the licensing process. The injunction stops all retail licensing until the latest case challenging the state’s licensing regulations is resolved. That suit was brought by disabled military veterans who were excluded from a provisional licensing program by the state.
