- Federal government find Cuomo sexually harassed state employees -
A settlement has been reached in the federal sexual harassment case against former governor Andrew Cuomo. AP reports that the U.S. Department of Justice found that Cuomo sexually harassed more than a dozen state employees while he was governor. The settlement is between the federal government and the state of New York. The state agreed to set up a new complaint process, monitor cases for potential retaliation, and require more training about how to report discrimination and harassment.
- Ithaca shelter employee recorded choking, threatening homeless man -
An employee of a homeless shelter in Ithaca was videoed over the weekend choking a homeless man. The incident took place at St. John’s Community Services the only homeless shelter in Tompkins County. The Ithaca Voice reports some former employees and outreach workers say the incident is an example of rising tensions between the staff and clients. The employee in the video is now on administrative leave and St. John’s is conducting an internal investigation.
- Binghamton battery research hub to get more federal funding worth up to $160 million -
The battery research and manufacturing hub at Binghamton University has won a National Science Foundation competition. WSKG Public Radio reports the hub will get $15 million in federal funding that could grow to $160 million over the next decade.
