- Ithaca holds open house about redesign of part of Route 13 near waterfront development -
The City of Ithaca wants feedback about the redesign of a portion of Route 13. The area stretches from Falls Creek to where the road splits near Purity Ice Cream. An open house will be on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 5-7 PM at Boynton Middle School for residents and people who regularly travel Route 13. Participants can see plans, ask questions, and provide feedback. You can see the plans here.
- State democrats reject redistricting map, will draw new one -
State democrats voted down the new congressional district map from the state’s bipartisan Independent Redistricting Commission on Monday. The commission submitted the new map to the legislature earlier this month. The Albany Times Union reports Republicans have criticized Democrats for rejecting the commission’s map. Democrats must now propose a new map.
- A donation will allow Cayuga Nature Center to continue some animal programs -
Cayuga Nature Center (CNC) in Ithaca will continue some of its live animal program due to a recent donation from the Lilac Foundation. The Center announced it will keep smaller animals like native reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. CNC is a subsidiary of the Paleontology Research Institute. In January it announced it was ending its live animal programs and finding new homes for all of its animals because of financial difficulties.
