- A congressional committee subpoenas Cuomo in COVID-19 investigation -
A congressional subcommittee investigating the coronavirus pandemic has subpoenaed former governor Andrew Cuomo. The Albany Times Union reports that a focus of the Republican-led committee’s inquiry is a 2020 order issued by Cuomo to nursing homes. It required facilities to allow residents with COVID-19 to remain or return to nursing homes from hospitals while still testing positive for the virus.
- Public comment period extended for proposed gravel pit expansion near Watkins Glen park -
The public comment period is extended for the proposed expansion of a gravel pit near Watkins Glen State Park. The plan would increase the pit from about 14 acres to over 76 acres. FingerLakes1.com reports the state Department of Environmental Conservation made the change following requests from residents, state Senator Tom O’Mara, and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano during the previous period. The new deadline for written comments is 5 PM, April 13.
- Trumansburg gets $3.5 million in federal funding for new fire/EMS facility -
The Village of Trumansburg is getting $3.5 million in federal funding to build a new fire/EMS facility. Congressman Marc Molinaro announced that the funding is part of over $27 million being allocated in the federal appropriations for the 2024 fiscal year. The building will allow the fire and EMS staff to work together and add more garage space for EMS vehicles.
