Protests Interrupt Cornell Commencement

Cornell’s class of 2024 graduated Saturday. Like commencement ceremonies at many universities this year, the event was disrupted by pro-Palestinian student protestors. According to WSKG, about 12 people chanted and then walked out. Others wore black and white keffiyehs but stayed seated throughout the proceedings.


Kelly's Dockside for Sale

A storied Ithaca restaurant is up for sale. According to 14850.com Kelly’s Dockside and the building it occupies on Taughannock Blvd are listed for sale for $1.1 million dollars. Kelly’s, joins a list of all long-standing local establishments in Ithaca that have either closed or gone up for sale recently. Others include Joe’s Restaurant and the Chanticleer.


Pride Celebrations Planned for June

June is pride month and events throughout the area will celebrate LGBTQ communities. Elmira will kick things off on Saturday, June 1 at 11 am at Wisner Park next to the Park Church. Then on June 8, Southern Finger Lakes Pride will host a community dance party in Corning. The Ithaca Pride Alliance will kick off its Pride week on June 8th as well with an opening ceremony and dance party at the Bernie Milton Pavillion. They’ll follow that up with their Pride in the Park festivities on Sunday, June 9 in Dewitt Park in Ithaca.


Juneteenth Preview Tuesday

Tune into a special Big Scoob show Tuesday at 2pm for a Juneteenth preview with Dr Nia Nunn. They’ll talk about Juneteenth, it’s significance, and Southside Community Center’s Juneteenth Jubilee scheduled for Saturday Jun 15, 2024.
