Rep. Tom Reed speaks to leadership role of Congress in pandemic management
In over 100 countries, experience and data surrounding COVID-19 has been accumulating, and techniques are clear for successful control of both infection and death rates. For example, Australia, with a slightly larger population than New York state’s 20 million, has a total COVID-19 death count of 96 since January 1st. Taiwan, with 22 million people and a capital city density comparable to NY city, has a total death count of six since January 1st. Meanwhile, New York state’s death count is 19,000 as of May 5.
