Police Reveal Victim of Taughannock Blvd Shooting

ITHACA, NY -- Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place In Ithaca on Monday.
Alan Godfrey, a 32 year old from the Ithaca area, was found dead on the 200 block of Taughannock Boulevard around 12:43 a.m., a well-traveled area of the city.
Police believe Godfrey was specifically targeted.
In a Facebook livestream, Mayor Svante Myrick offered his condolences.
"I know a lot of us knew Alan and I can’t imagine what his closest friends and family are going through right now to lose such a young man so needlessly," said Myrick.
Myrick emphasized that police have been working around the clock on the case. He's encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
He said, "You can tell us anything you know even anonymously, because we want to get closure for the family and get this person off the streets."
