Yesterday, the New York State Legislature approved the state’s new maps for the state assembly and the state senate. The new maps would place Tompkins and Ithaca into deeply democratic seats in both the state assembly and state senate. According to Fox5’s Morgan McKay, the maps passed in the state assembly by a vote of 118-29 and in the state senate by a vote of 43-20. The maps still must be approved by Governor Kathy Hochul, who is widely expected to do so.
