Former Northeast Elementary principal Liddy Coyle has secured a new position as Principal on Special Assignment for the Ithaca City School District. According to WHCU, Coyle’s new position will involve researching and securing grants for the district. Coyle’s departure from the Principal position several months ago was met with anger and confusion from parents, students, and teachers alike, as the district refused to publicly give a reason for her removal.

New York State health officials announced Monday that the polio virus had been found in wastewater in the Hudson Valley. According to Reuters, the virus has been in the water since June, a month before there was a confirmed case in Rockland County. Based on available evidence, the State Health Department is not able to say if the positive samples detected stemmed from the Rockland case. Health officials are urging all eligible unvaccinated residents to receive their polio vaccines in order to mitigate the potential spread. Two polls released Tuesday morning show New York gubernatorial incumbent Kathy Hochul with a comfortable lead over Republican competitor Lee Zeldin. According to Spectrum News NY1, Hochul leads Zeldin by a margin of 14 points in both polls. The polls also demonstrate a pronounced gender gap among voters between the two candidates. In the poll fr om Emerson College, Hochul leads Zeldin 59% to 33% among women, but the two are tied at 46% among men. The Siena College poll showed similar results. Both polls also show widespread dissatisfaction with President Biden and the direction the country is headed in.
