- Costco, Sam’s Club recall charcuterie due to salmonella outbreak -
State and federal health officials say charcuterie samplers bought late last year from Costco or Sam’s Club may be linked to cases of Salmonella in New York and other states. The Binghamton Press Sun Bulletin reports the stores have taken the products off their shelves but officials say if you still have any of the meats you should throw them out. The products are the Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler from Sam’s Club or Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta from Costco bought between November 20 and Jan. 1.
- Tompkins County emergency care pilot program gets over $500,000 additional state funding because of application typo -
Tompkins County is getting over $630,000 in grant funding for a new EMS pilot program. That’s over half a million dollars more than they requested and 90% of the first year’s operating expenses. The Ithaca Voice reports a typo in the grant application form led the county to ask for much less than they were eligible for. The EMS Rapid Response pilot program will emergency medical care in rural parts of the county until an ambulance can arrive.
- Two arrested and over 100 farm animals rescued from Tioga County farm -
Two people have been charged in connection with the alleged mistreatment of over one hundred cows, horses, and goats. The animals were found on a farm near Owego in Tioga County. WENY TV reports two dead goats were also found on the property. The ASPCA says a farm sanctuary, the Massachussetts, and the Susquehanna SPCAs are helping to care for the animals.
